Nara Lokesh Recalls Childhood, Says Mother Had ‘No Mercy’ for Low Marks

Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Nara Lokesh recently shared a personal childhood memory while interacting with students at ZP High School in Chandrapalem, Visakhapatnam. Asked what happened when he scored low marks as a child, Lokesh said his mother would punish him and had “no mercy” when it came to poor academic performance.

Lokesh also credited his mother for playing a major role in his upbringing and success. He said that whatever position he has reached today is largely because of his mother and the way she raised him.

Father Was Busy With Politics

Recalling his childhood, Lokesh said his father was frequently occupied with political work and travelled extensively. He said his father would sometimes return home around 11:30 pm or midnight and leave again early in the morning, around 5:30 am or 6 am. As a result, his mother was the primary parent who was present during much of his childhood.

‘No Mercy’ When He Got Low Marks

Lokesh recalled that whenever he received low marks, his mother would punish him.

“If I got low marks, my mother would punish me, no mercy!”

He explained that his mother's strictness came from concern for his future and that her actions were ultimately motivated by love and a desire to see him succeed.

He Once Tried to Forge His Mother’s Signature

Lokesh also revealed a humorous incident from his school days. He said that on one occasion, he tried to forge his mother's signature on his report card, but was caught and punished.

He used the anecdote to explain how his mother's discipline influenced his personality and helped shape him into the person he is today.

Lokesh Credits Mother for His Success

Reflecting on his journey, the Andhra Pradesh Education Minister said his mother's role was central to his upbringing. He described her discipline and guidance as an important reason behind where he stands today.

The interaction also offered students a personal glimpse into the childhood of the Andhra Pradesh Education Minister, beyond his political and administrative role.
